Blake is an original Texan. His grandfather seven generations before him was Jesse H. Cartwright one of the original settlers in Stephen F. Austin's colony, known as the "Old Three Hundred."

Blake grew up in Longview, Texas and moved to Austin after graduating from high school to attend the University of Texas. While at the University of Texas, he was a business major and member of the University of Texas football team as a “walk-on” quarterback for all four years.

Blake will tell you his prayers as a kid was to play football at the University of Texas and be a lawyer like his dad. God answered both prayers.

For over 30 years, Blake has served as lead counsel in countless challenging cases throughout the State of Texas in both state and federal courts involving cases including: wrongful death, catastrophic injuries such as paralysis and burns, automobile crashes, commercial motor vehicle crashes, automobile pedestrian crashes, ride share passenger crashes, sexual assault cases, premises liability injuries, workplace injuries, dangerous and defective products, medical malpractice, civil rights violations, and consumer products.

Blake will tell you that he does not remember a time in his life that Jesus Christ was not his Lord and Savior. One of his passions is serving and worshipping at Austin Christian Fellowship through leading a men’s bible study, storytelling for 1^st through 5^th grade children, and leading a high school boys bible study. He has also served on numerous local, state, and foreign mission trips.

Blake believes God trusted him with the privilege of being a trial lawyer not to make money, but to be a minster of help to those in need who have suffered life changing consequences through no fault of their own. He uses his gifts and skills in walking alongside his clients through the unexpected adversities they are facing in their life by counseling them and seeking justice for them. He treats every client the way he would want to be treated if he or his family were in their shoes.

Blake considers his greatest blessing on earth to be his family. He has been married to the love of his life Tammy since 1999, and they are blessed with two wonderful daughters and a retriever, Molly.
